The Economic Development Subcommittee is pleased to announce that businesses seeking a LeClaire location can now obtain an information packet containing important business development and resource information.

The 3/50 Project

Early holiday shopping? . . . shop local!!
Patronize at least three local businesses this holiday season and you’ll be a part of the “3/50 Project” - - -a nationwide campaign to bring small businesses and consumers together to save their local economy.

Debbie Mulvania, President of the LeClaire Chamber of Commerce, and Vice President of First Central State Bank notes that “we need to educate residents and businesses about the ‘domino effect’ that local shopping has for our community.” According to the 3/50 Project, for every $100 spent by the consumer spent in a locally-owned store, $68 remains in the community. Of the purchases from a national chain located in the community, only $43 remains; and when spent on-line, very little revenue is returned to LeClaire’s economy.

It’s simple to understand. Successful local businesses generate tax revenue for the City of LeClaire. Retail and service businesses pay property and sales taxes. Our local motels also collect “pillow tax” revenues from visitors to our community.
Join us, in the next few months, and visit our local shops. . . learn what visitors are saying about our hospitality that is making us an increasingly popular destination on the Mississippi River . . . and rediscover the charm of LeClaire that continues to attract visitors, tourists and new residents, all of which can increase LeClaire property values and strengthen the community’s economy.

 

The 3/50 Project is a grassroots economic stimulus plan that has emerged as a nationwide campaign to bring small businesses and consumers together to save their local economies.

It encourages supporters to set aside $50 each month and then spend that money at independently owned businesses in the community.

So visit LeClaire's unique shops, businesses and restaurants and help support this great project for our town!
